Located in northeastern Italy, Venice, the famous city of waters, is a unique city with a rich musical and cultural heritage. Since the Renaissance, Venice has been a hotbed of artistic creation, where composers, musicians and artists from all horizons have left their indelible mark.

Antonio Vivaldi, one of the most famous Baroque composers, created his major works here, and his concertos continue to resonate in the city’s magnificent halls. La Fenice, Venice’s prestigious opera house, with its rich repertoire, attracts music lovers from all horizons. This legendary theater has seen some of the world’s greatest artists perform and has been the venue for numerous world premieres, consolidating Venice’s reputation as a nerve center for classical music.

In every alleyway, in every square, music and art vibrate, making Venice a living museum where past and present meet in harmony. Small churches are home to hidden treasures, and classical music concerts are frequent, offering exceptional acoustics.

Premiered on December 26, 1830 at Milan’s Teatro Carcano, this tragic opera is considered one of the masterpieces of the bel canto repertoire. The opera recounts the last days of Queen Anne Boleyn, second wife of King Henry VIII of England, wrongly accused of adultery, treason and incest. Donizetti’s music is distinguished by its lyrical melodies, rich orchestration and thematic motifs that accentuate the drama. The aria Al dolce guidami castel natio is one of the opera’s most poignant moments, in which Anne expresses her nostalgia and despair. For this performance, directed by the exceptional Pier Luigi Pizzi, Lidia Fridman will take on the particularly demanding role of Anne Boleyn, requiring vocal virtuosity and great emotional depth. She will be joined by Alex Esposito as Henry VIII and Enea Scala as Percy. Renato Balsadonna will be in the pit conducting the La Fenice Orchestra.
