In Tyrol, the surrounding mountains and the art of living invite a new perception. The Swarovski Kristallwelten in Wattens open the eye to the iridescent shades of crystal. For hikers, the view to and from the summit of the Kaisergebirge (Emperor’s massif) offers the prospect of inspiring nature. For painting enthusiasts, Innsbruck is not to be outdone, with the Tirol Panorama, a 1,000 m² fresco in which Michael Zeno Diemer’s brush recounts the battles of independence against Napoleon. The imposing fortress of Kufstein, for its part, offers a glimpse of over 800 years of history. But let’s not forget Erl!
Chaperoned by Jonas Kaufmann (at least) until 2030, the Tiroler Festspiele has historically been held in summer since 1998, but has managed to diversify its offering over the entire season. Principal conductor Asher Fisch‘s regular presence throughout the year will act as a binding force. Act I of Valkyrie, under his baton, will perpetuate the event’s Wagnerian heritage, with the exquisite vocal trio of Lise Davidsen – Jonas Kaufmann – René Pape. The Austrian premiere of the dreamlike Picture a Day Like This, conducted by Corinna Niemeyer, is in keeping with the contemporary creation DNA of the Austrian event.
