Impossible to resist the charm of Baden-Baden! Favored by the world’s elite as early as the nineteenth century, this Black Forest town dazzles with its gentle way of life and rich cultural scene. Great artists such as Dostoyevsky, Brahms, Wagner, and Victor Hugo loved strolling through its delightful, picturesque center, and the shadow of Marlene Dietrich still lingers over the casino, which the actress famously said it was the most beautiful in the world! Among the museums, a visit to the Fabergé Museum is an absolute must—an astonishing institution dedicated to the jeweler of the famous eggs—as well as the Frieder Burda Museum, one of Europe’s finest museums of modern and contemporary art.
As in the Belle Époque, Baden-Baden becomes Europe’s “summer capital” when the fine weather arrives. In the magnificent Festspielhaus (one of the most prestigious concert halls on the planet), the world’s leading orchestras perform ambitious programs. Guest of honor in 2026, the London Symphony Orchestra offers two dazzling concerts. While conductor Yannick Nézet-Séguin sweeps us away into the timeless Russia of Rachmaninov, the British orchestra’s current music director, Antonio Pappano, conducts the sublime Act III of Tristan and Isolde by one of Baden-Baden’s beloved sons: Richard Wagner. Fabulous!
