Behind its familiar façades, the Belgian capital cultivates the art of chiaroscuro: unsuspected treasures, discreet addresses, and collections that reveal themselves only to those who know the codes, or who have been invited inside.

It is this confidential, erudite and resolutely contemporary Brussels that La Fugue invites you to explore. A journey conceived as a carefully curated promenade, moving between rare manuscripts and avant-garde art, UNESCO-listed Art Nouveau houses, the backstage world of a legendary opera house, and the international musical stage with the final of the Queen Elisabeth Competition.

In Brussels, creation is experienced as much in the intimacy of a private collection as beneath the gilded ceilings of a concert hall. Collectors open their doors, curators share their expertise, and the artisans of performance reveal what usually remains unseen.

Through selected encounters and privileged access, La Fugue composes a demanding yet sensitive itinerary, reflecting the very nature of the city itself: discreet, plural, and profoundly cultivated.

A journey for those who know that, in Brussels, what matters most is never displayed; it is discovered.

Lunch in the centre of Brussels.

In the afternoon, discovery of the Royal Theatre of La Monnaie, the beating heart of Belgian operatic life. A true European institution, La Monnaie occupies a singular place in the musical and political history of the continent. A temple of lyric art since the eighteenth century, it was also, in eighteen thirty, the setting of an uprising that proved foundational, reminding us that music here has never been mere entertainment, but a living and engaged force. Today, La Monnaie continues to combine artistic daring with musical excellence, establishing itself as one of the most innovative stages in Europe. Behind its classical façade unfolds a world of striking modernity: costume workshops, artisanal expertise, intimate foyers and backstage spaces where stage emotion takes shape.

  • At 3 p.m.: Concertino in the Foyer, a public event offering an intimate musical moment within the theatre.
  • At 4 p.m.: private visit of the costume workshop, where stage costumes come to life.

Free evening, to wander, dine according to personal preference, or continue the day’s conversations.

SATURDAY 30 MAY 2026

Breakfast at the hotel.

Morning and lunch at leisure.

In the afternoon, discovery of the Bibliotheca Wittockiana, Brussels’ temple of the book arts.

A rare and deeply singular place, the Bibliotheca Wittockiana is dedicated to the book arts in their noblest and most sensitive forms. Founded by the great bibliophile Michel Wittock, it preserves and showcases precious volumes in which binding becomes a work of art, a subtle dialogue between text, material and gesture. Here, books are contemplated as much as they are read: patinated leathers, gilt tooling, antique papers and contemporary creations trace the evolution of exceptional artisanal savoir-faire.

The visit is entirely private, outside public opening hours, and includes a demonstration highlighting the crafts of bookbinding, typography and fine art publishing.

At 7:30 p.m., at BOZAR, the musical highlight of the journey:

FINAL OF THE QUEEN ELISABETH COMPETITION —VIOLONCELLO

Founded in nineteen thirty-seven, the Queen Elisabeth Competition occupies a unique place on the international musical scene. More than a competition, it is a rite of passage for young musicians destined to shape their generation. Renowned for its uncompromising artistic standards, the competition stands out for the depth of its process, successive rounds, imposed works and collaboration with orchestra, as well as for the attention paid to the artistic development of the candidates, far beyond mere virtuosity. Attending a final at BOZAR means experiencing a rare moment of tension, where the future of a performer is decided in the moment, under the acute listening of a jury and an audience of connoisseurs.

Dinner at leisure after the concert.

Overnight at the hotel.

SUNDAY 31 MAY 2026

Musical brunch at the Corinthia Hotel, a final moment of shared experience before departure.

Check-out, followed by independent return.
