Vienna is the romantic destination par excellence. Lined with luxury boutiques, the Graben is a magnificent pedestrian avenue. Of course, you can also admire Klimt’s Kiss in the superb Baroque Belvedere Palace. The Museum of Fine Arts offers an extraordinary exploration of the history of art. Countless masterpieces are on display, from Cranach’s Adam and Eve to the jewels of classical Rome and Egypt. Between two visits, take a break in one of the city’s legendary Kaffeehaus.
In the evening, we suggest the heartbreaking love story between Manon Lescaut and the Chevalier Des Grieux. Inspired by the novel by Abbé Prévost, Jules Massenet’s Manon is one of the absolute pinnacles of French opera. To embody these wonderful characters, the Vienna Staatsoper calls on two exceptional singers: the Russian Kristina Mkhitarian as Manon and Benjamin Bernheim, who asserts himself in the role of Des Grieux (but not only) as THE great French operatic artist of his generation. Embracing Andrei Șerban‘s staging, Bertrand de Billy is the ideal conductor to bring this memorable evening to fruition.
