Milan has a unique way of life. Facing both the Alps and the Mediterranean Sea, the Lombard city combines the best of both cultures. It has an exceptional heritage: Leonardo da Vinci’s The Last Supper, one of the wonders of humanity, adorns one of the walls of the Basilica of Santa Maria delle Grazie. The Pinacoteca overflows with works by Tintoretto, Titian and Veronese, and the Poldi Pezzoli Museum is an architectural extravaganza housed in a late nineteenth-century house. In the late afternoon, you can succumb to the pleasures of aperitivi in the canal district or at Porta Garibaldi.
In the evening, we invite you to one of the most highly anticipated events of the season at La Scala. The Milanese theatre has been waiting ten years for a new production of Wagner’s Ring. The first part of this eagerly awaited tetralogy: The Rhinegold, directed by David McVicar and conducted by Simone Young. Among the singers, Michael Volle‘s Wotan, Wolfgang Ablinger-Sperrhacke‘s Mime and Okka von der Damerau’s Fricka are the stars of an ideally German-speaking cast.
