First stop - The House of Argan Trees

A few kilometres from Agadir, this house perched in a hamlet of three shepherd families offers spectacular views of the valley from its hillside terraces. This is where your journey along the caravan route begins.
Upon your arrival at the airport, your personal assistant will accompany you across the vast steppes dotted with cacti, rocks and argan trees to the peaceful douar of Azrarag.
The beautiful two-storey white stone building welcomes you with its lounge, panoramic terraces and three bedrooms. The setting is ideal for gently acclimatising to the local pace of life, in contact with the families of shepherds who live off the pastures.
From this base camp, there are several experiences to enjoy: take a stroll through the hamlet’s narrow streets with Rachid, who knows every hiking trail in the area, discover Africa’s largest apiary in Inzerki, or visit the nearby argan oil cooperative. For ocean lovers, Tamri beach is only a few kilometres away, perfect for surfing or simply watching the tides come and go.

Second stop - The village of Tizkmoudine

Allow three and a half hours’ drive to experience a complete change of scenery. After lunch in the granary at Ifri Imadidane, you will enter this authentic Berber village on the edge of the desert.
A few years ago, the inhabitants decided to revive the ancient ksar of Tizkmoudine, which had been abandoned for half a century. As you wander through the narrow streets, you can explore the vestiges of the past: old bourgeois residences, a historic mosque, a small museum and a creative arts centre where the village children carry on the traditions. Each open door reveals a piece of local history.
In the village square, you can sample bread fresh from traditional ovens before sharing a cup of mint tea with the women of the weaving cooperative, guardians of ancestral skills passed down from generation to generation.
Accommodation in this restored village offers a truly immersive experience. Three rooms without electricity, lit by candles and lanterns, with a wood stove for cool evenings. This timeless atmosphere lends itself naturally to contemplating the starry sky and can be enjoyed over several nights, allowing you to forge authentic bonds with the community and immerse yourself in the rhythm of village life.

Third stop - The Red House

Surrounded by mountains at the bottom of the Awju Valley, the Red House is not within reach of the disoriented tourist. From the village of Tizkmoudine, it takes an hour and a half by car to reach it. It’s a fabulous journey through the foothills of the Anti-Atlas Mountains to the hot spring at the heart of the old part of the village, where the building stands. Where trees are scarce, the rock plays with the sun, taking on a palette ranging from black to bright orange.
This house, built from the same red rock as the outcrops it overlooks, belongs to a traveller who decided to settle down here and enjoy the simple pleasures of life. Stop under an almond tree to read or daydream, with panoramic views of the surrounding mountains.
And explore the riches of the past in Aït-Kin or Timliline, two neighbouring villages that have preserved their 18th-century granaries intact.
Upon returning from your travels, indulge in a cup of tea overlooking the date palms. To savour the poetry of the last rays of daylight.

Fourth stop - The Acacia Camp

Head south for a Saharan adventure. Two hours’ drive from La Maison Rouge, near the Algerian border, the town of Fam el-Hisn marks the entrance to the great ergs. It is here, at the foot of a magnificent acacia tree, that your team has set up three khaïmas, traditional Mauritanian tents.
With their travel trunks and soft cushions, these tents offer unexpected comfort in the middle of the desert. Camp de l’Acacia revisits nomadic life with refinement, without losing any of its authenticity.
The pace slows down even further. The notion of time dissolves in the immensity of the dunes. The surrounding area is home to 12,000-year-old rock paintings, traces of the first humans to pass through the region. At the end of the day, climb to the top of a large dune to watch the sunset, then return to camp where dinner awaits you around the fire.
The total isolation of the place naturally encourages conversations and exchanges between travellers.

Fifth stop - The Oasis House

A gradual return to civilisation. After an hour’s drive along a bumpy track, you stop for lunch in Amtoudi, served in the grounds of a thousand-year-old granary. Then the camel trail takes you to Assa and Fask, where the Maison de l’Oasis stands hidden in the heart of a palm grove.
The place exudes tranquillity. Two Berber-inspired villas celebrate traditional craftsmanship: delicate mashrabiya screens, silky fabrics, carved stools and cream-coloured chaise longues create an atmosphere that blends the Orient and Africa. Here, everyone sets their own pace: savour the intimacy of a rammed earth house topped with a Bedouin tent, or set off with a guide into the palm grove, on foot or by bike.
When evening falls, Sufi songs ring out, performed by musicians who carry on the legacy of the caravans of Guelmim, once a crossroads for the gold and spice routes. Extend your experience for one night and enjoy a surprise open-air film screening. Thus ends the Route of Memory — but the memories are only just beginning.
