How can anyone resist the charm of Venice? From St Mark’s Square, the historic heart of the city, it is a real pleasure to stroll through this magical city. Around every corner, sumptuous palaces enchant the stroller, such as the Contarini del Bovolo palace with its famous spiral staircase. Located on the Grand Canal, the Golden House (‘La ca’ d’oro’) is another sublime Gothic building with a richly sculpted façade. To get a bird’s eye view, climb to the top of St. Mark’s Campanile to enjoy an exceptional panorama of La Serenissima. And for a truly unique experience, why not treat yourself to a gondola ride? The canals and Venetian palaces are dazzlingly beautiful from the water.
For this trip, we invite you to two proudly romantic evenings. The La Fenice Orchestra, conducted by Markus Stenz, will perform a ‘Sturm und Drang’ (storm and passion) concert, concluding with Schumann’s Spring Symphony. The following day, the Venetian theatre will present a new production of Wagner’s Lohengrin, directed by Damiano Michieletto, an Italian theatre director renowned for his opulent productions.
