On a presidential visit, Bill Clinton famously remarked: “Baden-Baden is so nice that you have to name it twice.” Nestled in the heart of the Black Forest, this spa town is one of the most beautiful cities in Germany. Its architectural heritage is exceptionally well preserved, and the subtlety of its gastronomy (with Alsace wines close at hand!) is matched only by the quality of its accommodations. Offering a remarkably scenic stroll, the Lichtentaler Allee is a true green jewel, home to nearly 300 species of rare plants. No visit to Baden-Baden would be complete without a trip to Caracalla Baths, one of the world’s most beautiful thermal baths. At the forefront of modernity, the Frieder Burda Museum showcases the elite of contemporary art.
In Baden-Baden, culture and music flourish year-round. Since its opening in 1998, the Festspielhaus has welcomed the world’s greatest ensembles. For our visit, we present two absolute specialists in their repertoires: Teodor Currentzis’ Utopia Orchestra will deliver a legendary performance of Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring, while the German Baroque Orchestra Balthasar-Neumann will present a masterful complete cycle of Bach’s six Brandenburg Concertos. Two evenings at the pinnacle of artistry.
