Experience a gentle summer evening in Provence. Life is good in Orange, a charming southern town rich in exceptional heritage. Rising 35 meters high, the Ancient Theatre unfolds all its magic with a magnificent 103-meter-long stage wall. It is within this truly extraordinary setting that the famous Chorégies have taken place since 1869. But the Ancient Theatre is not the only asset to this truly remarkable town. Admirably preserved, the Triumphal Arch stands as a superb testament to Roman grandeur, while the historic centre reveals its narrow streets and shaded squares – just as one imagines them in the South of France. And in Orange, good food is a way of life, thanks to excellent local specialities and the delicious products found in its markets. A few kilometres away, the village of Châteauneuf-du-Pape will delight the palates of all wine lovers.
For the 2026 edition, the Chorégies d’Orange presents a staged version of La Traviata, Verdi’s deeply moving masterpiece. The vocal cast is worthy of the world’s greatest stages: tenor Javier Camarena, baritone Ludovic Tézier, and Nadine Sierra, whom Opéra Magazine describes quite simply as ‘the finest Traviata performing today’.
