South Africa is one of the most beautiful countries on the African continent. It’s also one of the most diverse and astonishing: the Springbok nation will dazzle you!

You’ll find everything in this enchanted land: peaceful vineyards, verdant mountains, a superb ocean coastline, not to mention the animal reserves of its unforgettable national parks… At the cutting edge of modernity, South Africa also boasts bustling cities and an ancestral culture. As it stands, the rainbow nation is a land of possibilities.

Our trip is all about freedom: discover modern Johannesburg and its fascinating history, succumb to the charm of cool Cape Town and its paradisiacal surroundings.

And then there’s nature, omnipresent and fascinating: you’ll admire elephants, rhinos, giraffes and lions in the Kruger Park, and penguins and whales in the mythical and aptly named Cape of Good Hope.

In 2023, Lonely Planet magazine named South Africa one of its Top Sustainable Destinations. Let’s go on an adventure, always in the pleasant conditions that are our signature.

Peaceful vineyards, verdant mountains, a superb ocean coastline and wildlife reserves!

    TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 5 - PARIS/JOHANNESBURG

    Suggested outbound flight:

9:15 pm Departure of flight AF 990 from Paris Charles-de-Gaulle (direct flight – 10 h 40 travel time).

    WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 6 - JOHANNESBURG

    8.55 am Arrival in Johannesburg.

Transfer to the Intercontinental Airport Hotel for refreshments and breakfast before your day of sightseeing.

Welcome to Johannesburg! “Joburg” to its friends, and one of Africa’s most astonishing cities. If Pretoria is the administrative capital, Cape Town the legislative capital and Bloemfontein the judicial capital, don’t pay too much attention to these complex designations, for Johannesburg is indeed the country’s cultural and commercial capital. The best restaurants and museums can be found in this city of surprising and unusual neighborhoods.

To visit Johannesburg is, of course, to immerse yourself in South Africa’s recent history.

Guided tour of the Apartheid Museum, where you’ll discover its permanent exhibition, as well as the exhibition dedicated to Nelson Mandela. The museum traces the system of racial discrimination that became synonymous with South Africa from 1948 to 1994, the year the country held its first democratic elections.

The implementation of apartheid policies by the white minority and South Africa’s peaceful transition to a non-racial democratic society are important, and a visit to the museum provides an insight into the country’s evolution.

    Late lunch during visits.

Accompanied by your guide, you’ll visit the famous Soweto district, a legendary witness to the anti-apartheid struggle. In 1976, tens of thousands of black schoolchildren and students rose up against the compulsory introduction of Afrikaans in schools, a demonstration that was unfortunately put down with force. It was also in a small red-brick house in Soweto that Nelson Mandela lived from 1946 until his arrest in 1962.

    Welcome dinner.

To make the most of Johannesburg’s vibrant charms, you’ll stay at the Four Seasons Westcliff, set on a lush hillside close to the historic center.

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 7 - JOHANNESBURG /LION SANDS IVORY LODGE

    Breakfast at your hotel.

    Private transfer to Johannesburg airport.

Departure by plane for Lion Sands Ivory lodge (luggage weight limited to 20 kilos per person, must be a soft bag).

On arrival at the lodge, installation and lunch.

“Incredibly beautiful” is the best statement to introduce Lion Sands Ivory Lodge in the Sabi Sands Game Reserve. Tatler magazine called this impressive lodge “one of the best hotels in the world”. Ivory Lodge is located on the banks of the Sabi River. This multi-faceted reserve offers rare and beautiful wildlife encounters.

In the mid-afternoon, meet your English-speaking ranger in the lodge’s communal area and depart for your first private safari in the private reserve, for a complete immersion in the bush. At Lion Sands Ivory Lodge, safaris are conducted in open 4×4 safari vehicles.

In ideal conditions, you’ll have the chance to observe the many animals of this nature reserve. What a thrill to immerse yourself in this majestic natural world! Expert rangers will reveal the secrets of this unique territory, revealing its singular beauty and mystery.

Return to the lodge for dinner.

    Overnight at the lodge.

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 8 & SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 9 — LION SANDS IVORY LODGE

Morning snack and departure at sunrise for a safari with the rangers. Sunrise is the best time to observe the animals. It’s at this time of day that the wild animals approach the waterholes for their favorite activity: hunting. Indeed, morning safaris have a distinct character from late afternoon ones, allowing you to see different species of wild animals in an ever-changing setting. The chances of seeing the entire Big 5 are high in this part of Sabi Sands Game Reserve. The area around Lion Sands is famous for its incredible number of leopard sightings.

Retour au lodge en fin de safari pour un petit-déjeuner brunch.

Free time in the afternoon to enjoy the facilities at your disposal.

    Lunch at the lodge.

Tea-break before setting off on another private 4×4 safari with the rangers.

The Private Reserve offers an unusual experience in the heart of the wildlife, bringing you up close to the animals and leaving you with unforgettable memories. The wildlife experience continues as night falls, allowing you to observe rare nocturnal species by headlamp and torchlight.

Dinners and nights at Lion Sands Ivory Lodge.

SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 10 - LION SANDS IVORY LODGE/SKUKUZA/CAPE TOWN

    Breakfast at your lodge.

    Private transfer to Skukuza airport.

Lunch at the airport. A snack will be served during the flight.

Domestic flight from Skukuza to Cape Town.

On arrival in Cape Town, transfer to your hotel.

    Check-in and rest.

Cape Town is an enchantment. Often compared to Melbourne, its Australian “neighbor”, the southern city has a lasting appeal for visitors, thanks to its quality of life and extraordinary environment.

    Dinner and overnight in hotel.

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 11 - CAPE TOWN

    Breakfast at your hotel.

Morning with your expert English-speaking art and architecture guide.

You’ll visit a contemporary gallery in the city center, and the guide’s explanations will give you a better understanding of the complex past and present of South Africans, as represented by artifacts and art.

You’ll then discover the colorful Bo-kaap district, one of Cape Town’s most picturesque and emblematic neighborhoods, with its cobblestone streets, colorful houses and mosques reminiscent of Southeast Asian architecture.

    Lunch on the way.

Our final visit is to the Zeitz MOCAA, the Museum of Contemporary African Art. This temple to modern art is an architectural work of art in itself, with nine floors carved out of a huge concrete grain silo. It features a breathtaking collection of committed contemporary artists from all over the African continent.

One of the unforgettable moments of the day will be the unmissable ascent of Table Mountain by cable car (weather permitting), from where you’ll have a bird’s-eye view of the entire city and peninsula. Indeed, a trip to Cape Town would not be complete without an ascent of Table Mountain, the famous mountain that dominates the city.

Dinner in a Cape Town restaurant.

    Night at your hotel.

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 12 – CAPE TOWN/CAPE OF GOOD HOPE/CAPE TOWN

    Breakfast at your hotel.

Early departure for a day devoted to the Cape of Good Hope peninsula.

You’ll visit the small seaside village of Simon’s Town and, in particular, Boulders Beach, home to a colony of over 700 penguins.

Continuing on to the Cape of Good Hope, the dream of so many sailors in the 15th and 16th centuries. Visit the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, wrongly considered the southernmost point of the African continent. You’re sure to come across deer, eland and springbok (on land) and seals, dolphins, otters and humpback whales (in the sea).

The view from the Cape Point lighthouse is breathtaking, and you’ll feel as if you’re truly at the end of the world.

Late lunch in a bistronomic restaurant.

Return to Cape Town by private transfer along the picturesque Chapman’s Peak scenic route.

On your return, free time at the hotel.
