This year, Venice is the place to be for lovers of contemporary art! Alongside the traditional Biennale, the lakeside city is bursting with solo shows, from the hijacked portraits of Ewa Juszkiewicz to the pop works of Robert Indiana, and a fascinating dialogue between Zeng Fanzhi and Tadao Andō.

Our first foray into the Biennale will take place at Palazzo Ca Corner della Regina; en route to the Prada Foundation, the walk itself is an adventure, allowing you to discover picturesque views and the unique atmosphere of this lakeside city.

Christophe Büchel is one to break conventions: he’s already ruined the floor of his New York gallery and transformed the Palais de Tokyo into a “labyrinthine hovel”. What will this ultra-radical Swiss artist be doing under the gold of a Venetian palace? To ask this question would be to forget that the Prada Foundation is not afraid of anything either. Its Palazzo Ca’ Corner della Regina is thus transformed into “Monte di Pietà”, a tribute to the years when this former property of Pope Pius VII was used as a pawnshop, from 1834 to 1969.

Büchel explores all the strata of the site’s history, from the birthplace of Caterina Corner, future Queen of Cyprus, to the Corner dynasty of Venetian merchants. In a complex, overflowing installation, he accumulates objects, works and documents linked to notions of property, credit and finance. At the heart of this explosive digression on value, his work The Diamond Maker (2020) shines out of any safe: a suitcase containing artificial diamonds, created from the transformation of the artist’s works, including those from his youth. Certified 100-carat Prada!

Puccini’s opera Turandot remained unfinished at his death in 1924. Franco Alfano completed the score from the master’s sketches. Despite attempts at alternative endings, the Puccini-Alfano version remains a pillar of the repertoire today. The opera combines epic choral scenes with memorable lyrical moments, notably “Nessun dorma”, one of the most famous tenor arias. Despite its oriental sonorities and modernist harmony, Turandot remains in the tradition of Italian opera.

The evening concludes with dinner, where you can enjoy Venetian cuisine and share your experiences of the day.

The Arsenale, a key venue of the Biennale, will be our stopover this morning. Among our selection of the most stunning exhibits (the Biennale boasts a record 90 national pavilions this year!), we’ll linger in particular over the French and American pavilions, where artists Julien Creuzet and Jeffrey Gibson (respectively) offer powerful multi-sensory experiences.

After a light lunch, you’ll have a free afternoon to stroll through Venice’s picturesque alleyways, visit artisan boutiques or simply relax with a coffee on a terrace.

In the afternoon, enjoy a privileged visit to the Scuola di San Rocco, famous for its extraordinary frescoes by Tintoretto, with a member of the brotherhood. Exploring this place in private will offer you an intimate and unique experience, as close as possible to the history of the place and its incredible heritage.

With their youthful exuberance and Italian brio, the Interpreti Veneziani interpret the music of Vivaldi and the Baroque period, capturing the romance and mystery of Venice like no other ensemble. Playing on prestigious period instruments, this string orchestra is internationally acclaimed for its passionate interpretations. For the past 20 years, their season of over 350 concerts has been held in the 17th-century church of San Vidal, decorated with Italian Renaissance paintings and works by Vittore Carpaccio. Dazzling programs, in harmony with the atmosphere of the church and the city, embody the very essence of Venice.

The evening will conclude with dinner.

At the end of a morning free to stroll around Venice, visit the Tessitura Bevilacqua, one of Venice’s oldest and most prestigious fabric factories. You’ll discover the secrets behind the manufacture of sumptuous Venetian fabrics, a craft tradition that has been perpetuated for centuries. A real journey back in time to the frenetic rhythm of 18th-century looms.

After this marvelous experience, you’ll have lunch near the fish market, where you can sample fresh seafood and savor the authentic atmosphere of this lively place.
