‘Barcelona, how can I forget?’ sang Queen frontman Freddie Mercury and the great soprano Montserrat Caballé in a beautiful song in 1987. And indeed, how can I forget Barcelona, which has been constantly embellishing and modernising since the 1992 Olympic Games? The beautiful Catalan city is an all-season attraction. You can marvel at the incredible Art Nouveau houses designed by Antoni Gaudí along the Passeig de Gràcia. Visit the sumptuous collections of the Picasso, Miro and Antoni Tapiès museums, all home-grown. The Eixample district is also a great place to stroll and discover avant-garde restaurants and concept stores.
Located on the famous Ramblas, the Liceu is one of the most prestigious opera houses in the world. We invite you to discover a new production of Wagner’s Tristan and Isolde in this operatic Mecca. Magnified by Barbara Lluch‘s staging and Susanna Mälkki‘s musical direction, Tristan and Isolde are given a superlative incarnation by two of the greatest Wagnerians of our time: Clay Hilley and Lise Davidsen. The following day, we visit two of Barcelona’s most iconic landmarks: the sublime (and still unfinished!) Sagrada Familia, unveiled by an experienced guide, and the astonishing Palau de la Música Catalana, where we attend a fantastic symphony concert featuring French cellist Camille Thomas.
