Of course, the Austrian capital is marvellous in all seasons, but there is a special magic in winter: the Prater illuminated in lights, the great Christmas markets with, for the more sporty, a magical ice rink in front of the Town Hall, Kärtner Strasse decked out in a thousand lights, and always, of course, the city’s admirable museums, which are among the finest in the world.
